Our history
In 1989 Frank Bernaerts started to publish and sell his compositions and arrangements. In 1992 he founded Bernaerts Music BV.
As the CEO, Founder & Owner of this music publishing company from Blankenberge (Belgium), his intention was to allow Bernaerts Music to grow into one of the leading music publishers for concert band, fanfare and brass band publications.
Bernaerts Music started the worldwide distribution of music editions and CDs via the major music distributors. To give this fast-growing business a good home, a brand-new office complex was built in 1996 in Willebroek. All music editions, from idea to finished product, were produced in one and the same company.
In 2000 Bernaerts Music, one of the first music publishers in the world, goes digital. A first webshop goes online and orders can be made directly at the website.
In 2018 the existing website is completely overhauled to an e-commerce webshop and in 2019 Bernaerts Music created the possibility to buy all sheet music and CDs both in digital or physical version. (Digital PDF or MP3 downloads are not available for shops and resellers for copyright reasons.)
Bernaerts Music BV moved into a brand new commercial building in 2021 in Blankenberge and in 2023 the webshop will be redesigned into an up-to-date e-commerce webshop with a trendy and functional layout, for both B2C and B2B customers.
The Bernaerts Music sales team makes direct sales to bands in any country around the world, provides information to the clients, answers all your questions and guarantees daily shipment of orders to wholesalers, shops and bands.

Frank Bernaerts
CEO, Founder & Owner
Frank was born on 28th February 1967 in Willebroek (Belgium).
His first inspiration was his grandfather, a great music lover and conductor of the local fanfare band.
At the early age of eight, his interest in the world of concert band, fanfare and brass band grew.
He studied at the Municipal Music Academy of Willebroek, the City Music Academy of Mechelen and the Lemmens Institute (LUCA) in Leuven.
In 1989 he began distributing his own compositions and arrangements, and in 1992 he founded Bernaerts Music BV.
As CEO of this music publishing company, he has managed to build Bernaerts Music into a world-renowned company.
Marijke Peeters
Sales & Account Manager – Webmaster
Marijke was born on 19th March 1983 in Wilrijk (Belgium).
She studied accounting, IT (Information Technology) and company management at the Ursulinen school in Mechelen and the Karel De Grote University College in Antwerp.
At the age of nine she enrolled at the Municipal Music Academy of Willebroek where she studied solfège, cornet and piano.
She took her first steps in the world of concert band, fanfare and brass band as a cornet player in the Royal Fanfare Willen Is Kunnen in Tisselt (Belgium).
In 2006 she started her business career at Bernaerts Music as order picker and music dispatcher and in 2007 she joined the sales team.
In 2009 she assumed the leadership of the Bernaerts Music sales team as the sales & account manager and she ensures that your orders are shipped correctly and quickly.
